Why Do You Need Beef Organs?

Why do I need Beef Organs?
To put it simply organ meats are like nature’s multivitamin! Organ meats pack more of a nutritional punch than muscle meats, so why are they no longer consumed? In traditional cultures, organ meats were eaten first and often consumed raw.

Families and sometimes the community would come together and honor the animal, give thanks, and consume the precious organ meats before processing the rest of the carcass.

Organ meats were once seen as the most nutritious & powerful part of the animal and if you pay attention to animals in nature, they eat the organs first, typically the liver as it is one of the most nutritionally dense foods in existence.

Why are we so grossed out by organ meats now?

I don’t think there is a complex answer here. This is simply a case of cultural conditioning and Industrialization. Here in America, we have surprisingly narrow, restricted diets and many people associate organ meats with old people's food or food for underprivileged people. We also are plagued by convenience, and they aren’t serving organ burgers at your local drive-thru.

When animals began to be factory-farmed, large quantities of meat were cheaply available and suddenly families no longer had the need to be frugal and make respectful & careful use of the entire animal.

Organ meats are more delicate, can be time-consuming, and don’t keep as long as muscle meats. When people no longer needed to hunt and gather their own meat, supermarkets with factory-farmed meat took over small locally owned farms and butcher shops. People lost the skill and knowledge needed to prepare and eat organ meats.

How nutritious are we talking here?

Beef liver is one of the BEST sources of choline, magnesium, copper, zinc, selenium, iron, folate, b12, and vitamins A, D, E, and K.

Because of its nutrient density, you do not need to consume a lot. 2-4 oz per week is a good rule of thumb.

It’s almost as though if we consumed what nature intended we could ditch the multivitamins and prenatal while providing our body with the most bioavailable form of vitamins and minerals.

It’s no mistake that our Vitamin A requirement during pregnancy increases in the third trimester. In traditional cultures, Vitamin A-rich foods were encouraged during pregnancy to ensure mom and baby were healthy. I think a big part of the issues we are starting to see with so many children having methylation problems and other chronic issues is due to organ meats no longer being consumed at all, let alone during pregnancy when they are arguably most needed.

I know that’s a very simple statement in relation to a very large topic but deficiencies really set the stage for susceptibility. We are of course burdened by toxins now that ceased to exist a decade ago but when we are deficient in critical vitamins and minerals our body's susceptibility to those toxins increases exponentially.

Unfortunately, in America, pregnant women are advised to stay away from vitamin A because of a study that was conducted using isolated Vitamin A supplementation, not the whole food form (beef liver) that includes an abundance of copper which works synergistically with vitamin A to be properly utilized in the body.

Of course, all this liver talk is about liver from healthy pasture-raised animals.

What if I don’t want to consume liver or organs, what's my next best option?

FAQ

How many should I start with?

Most people do well starting with 1-2 capsules and then slowly working up to the bottle's full dose. Keep in mind organ meats were a delicacy for people and not consumed all the time, so in my opinion, it isn’t necessary to consume organ meats daily.

If I have histamine issues and react to liver what do you suggest?

Sometimes fresh organs are better for histamine-sensitive people or try the multi organs instead of the straight beef liver which has other histamine-supportive organs like Kidney. Otherwise, if still reacting this may not be a supplement for the current season you are in! See the image below!

Can kids take beef liver/organs?

It’s food! Many cultures give organ meats to babies! You can start by opening a capsule and putting it in a little applesauce or sprinkling it on some eggs! Some kids also love to just chew the capsules right up! Also, read the information in the images below.
